Nintendo Switch Continues Dominance In Japan

And it'll likely stay that way when the new system drops...

Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch and its upcoming successor continue to dominate the news cycle while we wait for the new system’s official announcement. Seriously, it can’t come soon enough, as we from the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast are slowly going mad because of all the “leaks” and “reports” that come from everyone BUT Nintendo! Anyway, while many are focused on the Switch 2, the OG Switch has continued to make headlines in its own ways. First, it still has games coming out in the leadup to the new system, but also, the console is still setting sales records.

For example, in Japan, it just crossed 35 million units sold, and that further establishes it at the best-selling hardware platform in the nation’s history.

According to Famitsu, Switch has surpassed 35 million units sold in Japan.

But wait! The success of the Nintendo Switch doesn’t stop there. As Stealth further notes, all the main best-sellers of the last 20+ years have pretty much all been on Nintendo systems:

In Japan, for the last 20 years the majority of the top 10 best sellers each year have been on Nintendo platforms.

Switch 2 will most likely keep that streak going for 25+ years. https://t.co/EWBrAyoefj pic.twitter.com/xExkMqpHgT

That’s true dominance, and with more games coming to the Switch this year, plus the arrival of the Switch 2, Nintendo could continue that streak long into the next gaming cycle.
