Aetherdrift Magic: The Gathering Exclusive Card Preview

By Karl SmartJanuary 27, 2025
Aetherdrift

Leave your competition in the dust! Get behind the wheel in Aetherdrift, a multiversal race filled with adrenaline-fueled Magic: The Gathering gameplay across three planes. Take the driver’s seat for the most dangerous (and most exciting!) race in the multiverse! Go for gold to win the glorious Aetherspark and speed past other extreme racers like Aatchik and Daretti to claim your prize…or die trying. Collision Course

Thanks to Wizards of the Coast, we have the opportunity to jump into the race and do some damage with an exclusive card preview.

The card we’ve been given to preview is called Collision Course, with art by Konstantin Porubov.

Collision Course

Collision Course gives white (or combo white) players the ability to crash out other competitors’ creatures or artifacts with a choice between its two abilities:

  • Collision Course deals X damage to target creature, where X is the number of permanents you control that are creatures and/or vehicles.

If you enjoy having a lot of creatures and vehicles on the board, then you’re going to love dropping Collision Course on your opponents. Using your combined might, you can use the creatures and/or vehicles you have in your control to damage a target creature. This might come in handy for Commander battles

  • Destroy target artifact.

This one is very straightforward; you can choose to take one target artifact out of the race. It’s a quick and effective way to remove something from the board that would otherwise cause you some trouble as you race towards the finish line.

Collision Course

Collision Course looks to be a great 2 mana cost removal spell for anyone who plays White decks, with the possible high damage output to remove creatures from the board, or the ability to remove artifacts from the board, giving White players a couple of options to disrupt any race.

Aetherdrift

Aetherdrift races into stores on February 14th, 2025 with a lot of options to build your decks with. As always, there are the usual Play Booster packs, Collector Booster packs, premade Commander Decks, Bundles, and a special Finish Line Bundle that features 2 Collector Boosters, 6 Play Boosters, 20 foil lands, 3 extended-art cards, 2 Box Topper cards, 1 foil card storage box, 1 special Spindown life counter, 5 mana symbol stickers, and 2 reference cards.

However, if you want to be first to the starting line and get your hands on Aetherdrift before the official release date, you can always attend the pre-release events at your local Wizards Play Network store from February 7th to 13th.
