Pokemon TCG Pocket Has Crossed 60 Million Downloads

...it's never slowing down, is it?

Pokemon TCG Pocket

While I haven’t been playing it myself, it has been interesting to watch the Pokemon TCG Pocket player base grow basically exponentially over the last six weeks. It started as “just another mobile game” and then became one of the fastest-downloaded titles in recent memory. It’s been bonkers to see how many people have been playing it and also heaping lots of money onto it just to get the cards they need for their deck. Hey, it’s your money. Use it how you want!

Anyway, fast forward to now, and The Pokemon Company has released an official statement on how the game has crossed 60 million downloads! Not only that, but the company revealed that the game’s next big expansion will drop next week:

The milestone comes on the heels of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket being nominated for Best Mobile Game at The Game Awards, which recognizes creative and technical excellence in the global video game industry.

In addition, The Pokémon Company group will soon release a new expansion for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket, titled Mythical Island. In this latest expansion, players can look forward to discovering new and unique card illustrations featuring a variety of new Pokémon, including the Mythical Pokémon Mew, as well as new binder and display board covers depicting the scenery of the Mythical Island. Furthermore, with more cards available soon to collect, players can also explore new approaches to deck building and enjoy expanded battling experiences in solo or versus battle modes.

Curiously, The Pokemon Company didn’t note how much money the Pokemon TCG Pocket title has brought in. We know it’s raking in the money, though, so perhaps it didn’t want to gloat…for now.
