Super Smash Bros Creator Helps Link Cosplayer With Sword Issue

When in doubt, ask Sakurai!

As I’ve recounted numerous times on this site, Masahiro Sakurai is a godsend, a treasure, and someone to be protected at all costs! Seriously, he’s that legendary, and that goes beyond his gaming resume of creating Kirby, Super Smash Bros., and more. Even when he’s doing other work, he’s never afraid to help fans, such as the one in the tweet below, who did an incredible Link cosplay featuring his Breath of the Wild look. However, as he notes in the post, he can’t fully draw out his Master Sword while in his garb.

That has to be frustrating, as his Link attire is really good! Thankfully, Sakurai saw this post and commented on it while also giving insight into something he did in Super Smash Bros Ultimate!

In Smash Bros. Ultimate, Link pulls the scabbard down when sheathing his sword. That alone didn’t quite reach the mark, but I think that’s as far as we could go with our ingenuity and still replicate the action and equipment from the original.

The cosplayer replied back and said he would follow his advice. A wise action, indeed! Is this the most important story ever? No. However, in times like these, we need all the “nice stories” we can get, and this is definitely one of those! Thank you, Daddy Sakurai!
