Xbox Head Claims That “Nobody Cares About Banjo-Kazooie”

We care.
By Todd BlackOctober 19, 2024
Banjo-Kazooie, Xbox, Nintendo, Shigeru Miyamoto

As we’ve noted many times on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, there are various franchises that The Big N doesn’t capitalize on for one reason or another that boggles our minds. The catch is that they have so many franchises they DO capitalize on that it can get lost in the shuffle. Currently, both Sony and Xbox are having “IP problems,” where they aren’t able to not just get games out, but get them to sell. That brings us to Banjo-Kazooie, which you might recall had its sequel announced for Nintendo Switch Online the other day.

Many people would LOVE to see Banjo-Kazooie return via a reboot on Xbox or come back to Nintendo for some fun. However, it appears that the head of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, doesn’t feel that people actually want that…for some stupid reason. He was at a Microsoft Flight Simulator, according to ResetEra, and asked the crowd what titles they’d like to see get a new game. When one shouted for the classic Rare platformer, he replied:

 “Nobody cares about Banjo-Kazooie.”

Before you ask, the person who reported this said that Aaron didn’t seem sarcastic, so this might be what Microsoft really thinks about the franchise. That’s unfair because fans HAVE asked for this franchise’s return for MANY years. Plus, when the characters were announced for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, there were millions of views on just the main trailer alone, not to mention all the ones that were posted by other websites.

What this proves is that, once again, Microsoft and Xbox don’t understand its audience, and gamers are suffering for it…just like the Xbox Series X/S lifetime sales numbers…
