Freedom Wars Remastered Announced: Coming to PS5, Switch, and PC in January 2025

Bandai Namco and Dimps have officially announced Freedom Wars Remastered, reviving the beloved PlayStation Vita title for modern platforms. Set for release on January 10, 2025, the remaster will launch on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC. However, as Freedom Wars remains a PlayStation IP, the remaster won’t be coming to Xbox platforms.

The remaster promises a range of enhancements, including 4K resolution, 60FPS, and a variety of improvements to modernize the experience. Players can expect rebalanced gameplay, new difficulty options, and several quality-of-life updates, such as streamlined weapon crafting and upgrading systems. Both longtime fans and newcomers can look forward to a polished and visually upgraded experience while staying true to the original’s spirit.

Check out the official announcement trailer below for a first look.

As someone who played Freedom Wars extensively on my PS Vita (and still owns both the game and the handheld), I’m thrilled to see it making a comeback. While I’m excited about this remaster, I do have some concerns. We’ve seen a surge of remasters lately—some have been excellent, while others have missed the mark. Hopefully, this one will do justice to the original.

Regardless, I’ll be eagerly waiting to see how Freedom Wars Remastered performs when it releases on January 10, 2025. Be sure to wishlist the game on Steam and stay tuned for more updates!
