The Story

The bus hijacking event is over and the children return to Eden Academy. There, Anya is branded as a hero and everyone wants to know how she became so strong. They begin to wonder if peasant life was the secret to her strength and suddenly, she has a cult-like following hanging onto her every word. In the middle of it, she wonders if she can reverse Plan B into the B Plan and have Damian come over to her house instead of the other way around! Unfortunately, she gets too full of herself and bumbles the B Plan… or did she?

Yor ends up going out to drink with some of her co-workers and ends up ingesting a bit too much alcohol. Some rather hilarious scenarios run through her drunken mind! This little side trip is followed up with a visit from Yuri; however, shortly into his visit, Twilight is called away on an emergency meeting. Yuri becomes suspicious so he takes Yor with him and they follow him; however, as they are doing so, Yuri and the SSS are also called to a secret mission!

Some top-secret information has been leaked and the carrier is crossing the border. The SSS hopes to escort this person to obtain the information while Twilight and WISE are trying to apprehend him and retrieve the information to safeguard it. I won’t go into further details but I’m sure that a certain two characters who were called away are going to end up crossing paths! Our volume ends with a bit of rage from a certain admirer of Twilight!

Characters

Anya is still Anya but Damian is slowly warming up to her more and more. He’s developing a crush on her which is going to work in Anya’s favor since that’ll help get Twilight closer to Desmond. I like how his development is very slow as you can see his armor chipping away bit by bit. It’s fun to watch it happen but it makes me wonder when the breaking point will be.

I can’t truly think of any other character development. Everyone was still the same as ever. Drunk Yor was fun and I guess you could call her inability to hold her liquor as development as it’s a new fact that we learned about her. Outside of that, the development was put on pause for the sake of this new story arc which was the focal point of the volume.

Final Thoughts

I was wondering when the next major mission was going to happen and now, we don’t have to wonder any longer. I thought that there would be more filler between them but we received a nice little epilogue from the hijack mission, some drunk Yor, and went straight into the next. Although, it doesn’t appear as if this one is going to last all too long. Unless something unpredictable happens at the beginning of volume 13, then I would say this one will wrap up quickly. The aftermath; however, is going to be interesting due to a certain fight scene and a certain sister-obsessed brother still in the middle of a family visit. Of course, Twilight is the master of disguise so I’m sure that he’ll come up with a believable excuse and Yurii will be dumb enough to buy it!

As for Anya, I want to see more of her and Damian getting closer together. It seems as if every time Operation Strix has the spotlight placed back on it, another distraction comes along and delays its progress. It’s almost starting to feel like an artificial extension at this point which I, normally, would loathe but since all of these little distractions are well-executed, I’m kind of enjoying them. It’s just a bit bothersome that the main mission and reason for this series existing constantly gets placed on the back burner. Then again, that’s the life of a spy sometimes, right?

Overall, still a great volume although the ending wasn’t much of a cliffhanger… more like “Welp, he’s screwed. We’ll see how much he’s screwed next time.”
