Gamescom: HoYoverse Teases Significant Updates and Crossovers Live for Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero

By Josh PiedraAugust 20, 2024

HoYoverse continues to surprise fans and gamers on gamescom 2024 Opening Night Live, the opening ceremony of the grand annual gaming event in Cologne, Germany. Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero all showcased significant updates and new playable characters in trailers, while the announcement of Genshin Impact coming to Xbox and Honkai: Star Rail’s crossover with the famous anime title Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] further excited the audience.

For the fourth time in a row, Genshin Impact continues to bring fresh new content at gamescom, this time featuring its annual major expansion that goes live on August 28. First released in September 2020, the free-to-play open-world adventure role-playing game offers a journey through an ever-evolving world on consoles, PC and mobile devices.

Tonight’s trailer takes gamers into Natlan, another major nation in Genshin Impact that distinguishes itself with the local warriors’ unique lifestyle and their unparalleled agility and movement skills when roaming diverse landscapes and defeating powerful enemies. The trailer ends with the announcement that the game will be released on Xbox on November 20, 2024 with the option to add the game to the Wishlist today.

Officially launched in April 2023, the space fantasy RPG, Honkai: Star Rail, continues to weave an intricate melody of surprises and rewards, maintaining the allure and excitement of this continuing cosmic adventure for Trailblazers to enjoy. In the latest Version 2.4 update, as the Penaconian vacation has drawn to a close, Trailblazers return to the Xianzhou Luofu to attend the Wardance ceremony.

In the wake of the recent Xianzhou odyssey, the latest trailer at Cologne Gamescom features Feixiao, The Xianzhou Yaoqing’s Merlin’s Claw and one of the Seven Arbiter-Generals. Through this moment, Trailblazers are exposed to folk legends about her formidable prowess, and the frank and straightforward general herself makes a spectacular entrance as well, descending from the heavens to grace the battlefield. Also, additional developments concerning the intriguing collaboration with the Fate/stay night [Unlimited Blade Works] anime have been unveiled, with Archer’s astonishing arrival aboard the Astral Express Pom-Pom and the crew shocked. Moreover, this also hints at an extraordinary multiversal journey looming just ahead.

Zenless Zone Zero is HoYoverse’s recently launched urban fantasy ARPG. The game combines a vibrant atmosphere with a unique art style, bringing players thrilling action combat and an immersive experience of urban life.

Zenless Zone Zero’s latest trailer at gamescom ONL showcases its captivating characters from the latest update — Version 1.1. With the spotlight on Jane Doe, an enigmatic Agent who enters into fierce battles with her lethal attacks, the trailer signals her true identity and her undercover missions. At the end of the trailer, the barren and desolate outskirts of New Eridu are shown. This is a brand new area that will serve as the stage for the next chapter in the story, alongside a glimpse at some mysterious characters from the Sons of Calydon.

From August 21 to 25, fans and players alike are welcome to visit Booth C-031 in Hall 6 to take part in the “Travel Across HoYoverse” event. They will be able to experience various game modes as well as a myriad of activities in the area dedicated to each game. In addition, they will be able to admire cosplay parades and stage performances, win numerous rewards, and get their hands on exclusive new merchandise.

The on-site experience for Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero is supported by iBUYPOWER, HoYoverse’s official PC gaming partner at gamescom, as well as Samsung, official gamescom monitor partner, with special thanks to Intel and ASRock. Europe’s leading smart food brand yfood will also present the limited Genshin Impact Editions featuring the “Banana Peanut” and “Icy Coconut” flavors at the HoYoverse booth with free giveaways and a cosplay contest for Genshin Impact fans.
