Gearing up to release his sixth studio album LOST CORNER digitally worldwide on Wednesday, August 21, global crossover J-pop artist KENSHI YONEZU has also announced a special edition physical CD to be released in North American on Friday, August 23 – PREORDER NOW. Included within the 20-track collection are selections from Yonezu’s creative output the last four years, including “Spinning Globe,” his theme to Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning film The Boy and The Heron, “KICK BACK,” his history-making track that became the first-ever Japanese language song to reach RIAA® Gold certification, plus eight brand new never-before-heard songs.

Meanwhile the North American version will be released in the UK and Europe, and the Taiwanese version will be available in South Korea as well. All international versions released will be the same as the Japanese Standard edition. The international versions of the CD will not be available in Japan.

With global expectations high since STRAY SHEEP, Yonezu’s long-awaited 6th album LOST CORNER will be released worldwide digitally on Wednesday, August 21, along with physical versions released locally on Friday, August 23. LOST CORNER is richly packed with total of 20 tracks, including an illustrious collection of songs Yonezu has released in the last 4 years: “Spinning Globe”  – the theme song of Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki directed animation Studio Ghibli film The Boy and the Heron which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, “KICK BACK” – the opening theme for TV anime Chainsaw Man which Yonezu became the first ever Japanese artist to rank into Spotify’s “Top 50 – Global” chart and was the first-ever Japanese language song to reach RIAA® Gold certification, “Tsuki Wo Miteita – Moongazing” – the theme song of latest Final Fantasy XVI which is a world popular video game series, “M87” – the theme song for the movie Shin Ultraman, “POP SONG” – the commercial song for PlayStation which is a world’s favorite gaming equipment and was also recognized by Guinness World Records as the Best-selling videogame home console brand ever, “Pale Blue” – the theme song for TV drama series How To Get a Divorce for the Whole Family! (Rikokatsu) which was also aired overseas, “Lady” “Mainichi – Every Day” – the commercial songs for Coca Cola’s Georgia canned coffee, “Sayonara, Mata Itsuka! – Sayonara” – the theme song for the currently popular NHK Morning Drama The Tiger and Her Wings, “Garakuta – JUNK” – the theme song of the movie Last Mile in theaters this summer, and many more. The original full album, including many international hits and several talked-about songs, is a must-have for all generations both within and outside of Japan.

LOST CORNER marks Yonezu’s highly anticipated follow-up to 2020’s STRAY SHEEP, which broke previous IFPI Global All Format Chart records and became the highest-placing Japanese artist ever to appear on the IFPI year-end global ranking chart, shipping over 1.9 million cumulative CD units. When STRAY SHEEP was released, Yonezu attracted attention across the world with “Yonezu Kenshi 2020 Event / STRAY SHEEP in FORTNITE.” This event made him the first Asian artist to have a virtual concert in FORTNITE, a battle royale game that reaches 370 million players worldwide. That same day, New York’s Fifth Avenue UNIQLO storefront featured Yonezu’s self-drawn illustrations, trending not only in the U.S. but worldwide.
