Upcoming Life-Sim Mirthwood Sets Release Date for PC

Sit down for this one, folks, because V Publishing and Bad Ridge Games have finally given their upcoming life-sim, Mirthwood, a release date! Announced by the two-man development crew, Mirthwood will be released for PC on September 11, 2024.

Notice I said “for PC”—the developer has expressed plans for a console port, but the PC version is the priority. There’s no word on a console port yet, but don’t write it off completely; Bad Ridge Games has expressed intentions for a console port, specifically on the Nintendo Switch. Expect to hear more about this after the PC version launches.

That said, I know a specific friend of mine who’s been looking forward to this game. Mirthwood wasn’t originally on my list of titles to play in 2024, but after talking with that certain someone, they’ve pretty much talked the game into my brain. Heck, I was on board when they mentioned that I could do what I wanted and didn’t have to play the “good guy” while venturing into Mirthwood. I’m going to rob everyone blind and blame it on a ghost or something.

Inspired by Fable, Stardew Valley, Rimworld, and The Sims, Mirthwood is an enchanting open-world RPG life sim that blends genres to create something unique. Fleeing a continent swept with war, your arrival in a new land provides a fresh start. Experience an immersive medieval fantasy world sandbox that allows you to choose who you want to be.

You can head over to the Steam page and wishlist the game, or also check out the available demo. And yes, it runs well on the Steam Deck.

Mirthwood releases on PC (Steam) on September 11, 2024.
