Going into PAX East 2024, I knew what most of us did – that having the event occur during the same time as GDC 2024 was not the wisest of ideas. Having attended East 2024, you could see the effects of both events taking place simultaneously. While this was my frustration, I interviewed some on-goers, developers, and fellow journalists who felt the same way. However, it seems that Reedpop sensed our frustrations and announced that the PAX East 2025 dates from May 8th to May 11th, 2025.

It will also be the first time that the PAX East event will take place in a much later month, as it has traditionally occurred between February and April. Pushing this out to May 2025 means (hopefully) there will be warmer weather during the event, not having to go up against GDC 2025, which takes place from March 17-21, 2025.
This means that (hopefully) all those companies that ended up heading out to GDC 2024 instead of PAX East 2024 will be in attendance when next year arrives.
Of course, the possible concern is that while PAX East 2025 is taking place in May 2025, that is the Summer Game Fest. This year, the SGF will take place in June 2024 and likely will occur at the same time in 2025. And if that is the case, maybe we’ll see companies getting ready to head out to the West Coast instead of the East Coast. For now, let’s keep our fingers crossed.
