The Story

Everything is finally over. Aquila and Kasumi are tending to their home world, fulfilling requests for Captain Infinite, Natsuki, Daiki, and everyone else who decided to live there. They feel that they should be as accommodating as possible since many of them are calling this their home; however, there are some who travel between that world and their original for work or the pursue their goals. They are planning to have a big dinner with the gang assembled; however, peaceful plans are often interrupted.

In Atlantia’s home world, something strange has been happening. She is found escorting someone by the name of Professor Pierre who proclaims that the end of the world is at hand. Apparitions have been appearing on the world and in greater size and frequency as time moves forward. Because of the exposure of them being a story world, they have become aware of the information stream and they believe that this is a phenomenon related to it and that it will bring about a cataclysmic event should something not stop it.

Atlantia can only think of one person who can help so she uses Professor Pierre’s knowledge of the information streams to transport herself to Aquila’s created world to meet her. She informs her of the situation; however, Aquila has no idea what’s happening, despite her powers over the information stream. Natsuki is clueless as well; however, they remember Stella being someone who studied the information stream so she would be their best bet for answers. The only problem is… no one has heard from her in ten years but there is a connection…. Atria Silver(insert name of weapon here.)

After paying Atria a visit, they are able to locate Stella where they recruit her for assistance. With as many brilliant minds gathered, the next stop is Atlantia’s home world to figure out what is causing the phenomenon; however, as one would expect… hell is breaking loose! Through it all, Professor Pierre comes up with a hypothesis and while the world is being torn apart, a new understanding of what is happening is taking place! What could it be!?

Final Thoughts

I truly enjoyed this installation. It kind of served as a continuing adventure and an epilogue for many of the characters. So many are planning weddings, becoming parents, and have higher priorities to deal with now which cut down our heroes for this latest adventure but the smaller cast was the right call for the story even if we did reunite with other characters along the way. I felt that it struck a nice balance.

There was some nice character work here, especially with Natsuki. I liked how Aquila and Kasumi felt that she was being wasted on their created world. They felt that the best thing to do was let her go free to explore the story worlds on her own; however, since Natsuki never asked to do that, they were at a crossroads. While I won’t give away what happened, that desire tied into the story nicely and once the mystery of the apparitions had been unraveled, Natsuki did find something that would stave off her boredom.

I also liked how the apparitions ended up being events and people from Atlantia’s world’s past events; how it tied into the political tension between the nations, and how it built upon the lore of her story world. I found it to be a nice and clever way to expand her universe while putting all of that at the forefront of a struggle.

Without spoiling the ending, I thought it was pretty clever as to what the events meant and it made you think of something that was, not only simple but also something that you could easily overlook. Because of how the world’s laws and rules were laid out, it was one of those “oh, I never thought something like that could happen” moments, and yet, it made complete sense. It also left things open to the imagination as this type of event could happen again and again.

The final chapter did leave things open for brand-new adventures with a brand-new cast should the author decide to go that route; however, if not, then while it does have an open-ended ending, it still could serve as a definitive ending point for the series. Either way, I’m satisfied with it as it has been a great ride. Re:Apotheosis was a nice spiritual sequel to Re:Creators and all these side stories not only helped flesh out the universe but also opened up possibilities we didn’t think could have been realized in the original source material. Genesis was no exception.

Another fantastic entry that fans of Re:Creators should pick up!
