Funko & 10-10 Games Announce Funko Fusion

By Karl SmartApril 25, 2023
Funko Fusion

10:10 Games, in collaboration with Funko and NBCUniversal, is sharing the first teaser trailer for its upcoming multiplayer mashup Funko Fusion. Iconic characters from Umbrella Academy, Back to the Future, The Thing, Jurassic World, Masters of the Universe, Shaun of the Dead, and other blockbusters come to life in Funko Pop! form in this wild new take on action-adventure games.

Funko Fusion is the debut title from 10:10 Games, a studio co-founded by five-time BAFTA award winner and TT Games founder Jon Burton and a team of experienced developers known for their work on brick-based (aka the LEGO series) games. Funko Fusion is planned for a 2024 release on PC and console.

Funko Fusion features dozens of playable characters in Funko Pop! form, each with their own unique personalities and abilities. Thwack the hordes with Shaun’s cricket bat, melt ’em with Childs’ flamethrower, or gleefully slash through the vinyl hordes as the maniacal Chucky. Online multiplayer adds even more chaos to the mix, allowing up to four players to team up and battle enemies from across the Funko multiverse.

Arthur Parsons, 10:10 Games’ Design Director and Co-founder says, “It’s incredibly exciting to be able to show everyone what the team here at 10:10 Games have been up to…. Harnessing the incredible properties we’ve been entrusted with by our partners at NBCUniversal, bringing them together into a gaming experience that is incredibly fun, surprising, authentic, and celebrates fandom like never before, all experienced through a Funko lens.”

Dolly Ahluwalia, Funko’s SVP of Licensing and Emerging Brands, says, “Working with Universal on this project was a dream of ours as their IP is like none other, with characters that appeal to all ages. This trailer is a taste of what folks can expect, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring this game to market in early 2024 with our partner 10:10 Games.”

Given the vast catalog of Pop Culture franchises that Funko has access to through licensing, there is an unlimited amount of cross-over DLC (A Transformers level where you fight a giant Unicron… Yes Please!) already waiting in the wings should this game be a success. While this might be upsetting to a lot of people, thinking that Funko Fusion is nothing more than a cash-in on a dying Funko brand (One that reportedly dumped millions of dollars worth of Funko Pop Vinyl figures into landfill due to warehouse costs being too high to store excess stock), remember that people scoffed at the LEGO games when they were first announced, and they went on to sell millions of copies of each game for decades.

For more updates and announcements about this exhilarating project and partnership, check out the Official Website as the game gets closer to release.
