Roniu’s Tale is an Action Puzzler from the Past

Ronius Tale NES Game

Are you a fan of retro games? Do you like puzzles? You may want to check out the upcoming action-puzzler Roniu’s Tale from Mega Cat Studios and Kunjee Studios. Did I mention this is only being released for the Nintendo Entertainment System? No, I’m completely serious. You’ll need an NES (or an emulator that plays physical games) to play this game or the demo available on the Ronin’s Tale website.

Take a look at how the game looks and gameplay in action with this handy trailer below.

Featuring more than 40 levels to test your puzzling skills, Roniu’s Tale has players exploring a dangerous dungeon as they gather orbs and dodge deadly traps on a quest to save their ghostly compassion. Then there’s the retro part, which makes the game look like it was released during the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System. Complete with some toe-tacking chiptunes that will ensure you’ll relive your younger days… assuming you were around during those days.

Polish those magic and thinking skills, because there’s no turning back! Step into the shoes of a hopeless wizard who tried to run away from his problems and found himself in a bigger mess.  Help Roniu access his magic and find his way through a deadly dungeon while taking down a plague of enemies hellbent on keeping him there. Steady now, you’re no longer on stable ground!

Inspired by Solomon’s Key and Adventures of Lolo, Roniu’s Tale is a head-scratching top-down puzzler with action elements. Each level is designed to have one or more paths but beware: each step Roniu takes will cause the tiles to break as he passes. You’ll need to watch your step to search for the orbs and keys you need to escape, danger lurks at every step!

If this sounds like your kind of game, and you have an NES or a physical cart emulator lying around, give Ronin’s Tale a try. Players can preorder Roniu’s Tale now at Mega Cat Studios’ website for $59.99 or enter to win a Roniu’s Tale game cartridge via a giveaway.
