Diablo IV is still heading to PS4 and Xbox One

Update: Blizzard has confirmed that Diablo IV is still heading to the PS4 and Xbox One. Despite the website only showing next-gen consoles and PC, it has been mentioned during the press release that the PS4 and Xbox One are still target platforms.

Blizzard Entertainment announced today that Diablo® IV, the next generation installment in the genre-defining series, is debuting in 2023. Blizzard also announced that Diablo IV is coming to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation®5, alongside versions for Windows® PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation®4, with cross-play and cross-progression enabled for all platforms.

Original story below:

It looks like Blizzard has decided which consoles Diablo IV is headed to, and it isn’t the PS4 and Xbox.

While we recently reported that the Diablo IV pre-registration page is currently live, we also noticed something was missing. While the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles are listed, missing are the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Due to this, we can safely say that Diablo IV is going to skip both of the previous generation consoles.

Diablo IV skipping PS4 and Xbox One

I don’t believe that before this, which platforms the Diablo IV would be headed to was known. I’d imagine this is going to frustrate console owners who are also fans of the Diablo series. Especially since trying to get ahold of either the PS5 or Xbox Series X|S has been quite the ordeal.

We still don’t know when we’ll find out more information regarding the title. While Rod Fergusson mentioned that we’ll hear something on Diablo IV “very soon.” We don’t know when “very soon” is.

I’m speculating that we could very well hear and see something about the game during the PC Gaming Show or Xbox and Bethesda showcase. Both events will take place on June 12th, 2022, so anything is possible. I suppose we’ll find out “very soon.”
