Streets of Rage 4 Heads to iOS and Android Devices in May

Streets of Rage 4 is perhaps of the best examples of how a 2D beat ’em up should be. It’s graced multiple platforms, and now the brawling champion is set to appear on iOS and Android devices on May 24, 2022.

The port is being handled by Playdigious, the same company that ported Dead Cells to iOS and Android devices. So they have the experience of bringing console and PC games over to the mobile platform. The Dead Cells port was excellent if you haven’t tried it for yourself.

So far, it looks like everything included in Streets of Rage 4 will make the jump to mobile devices, except multiplayer support. It won’t be available at launch but will be added as a free update later. What doesn’t seem to be part of this mobile device release is Mr. X Nightmare, which added several new playable characters and a survival mode. Hopefully, this ends up getting a separate release.

The game can be played via touchscreen inputs, or you can connect either a Bluetooth or MFicontroller if playing with a physical controller is more your speed. I’d imagine that a DualSense controller may also work on iOS devices, but quote me on that. Currently, you can preorder the game over on the Apple Store or Google Play.

While I’ve played the heck out of Streets of Rage 4, I’m interested in seeing how this port turns out. We’ll be reviewing the title as soon as we can get our hands on it.
