Gundam Evolution Is A 6v6 Hero Shooter With Gundams

Gundam fans, take notice of yet another Gundam game that’s in development over at Bandai Namco, with Gundam Evolution.

This newly announced game is being pegged as a 6v6 hero shooter. I suppose you could think of it as being similar to Overwatch, but with Gundams — and that excites me. According to Bandai Namco, Gundam Evolution will be a free-to-play title and it will be available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. I sure hope there’s going to be a cross-platform/cross-play announcement as well. Fingers crossed!

A first-person, team-based shooter, players will square off in a 6v6 format in several modes: point Capture, Domination, and Destruction. When the game is first released it will include 12 playable units that include the RX-78-2 GUNDAM, ASW-G-08 GUNDAM BARBATOS. Additional units will be made available by using CP points, which are earned via playing the game, and EVO coins, which can be purchased with real money.  Players will also be able to customize their mobile suits using the CP and EVO coins as well.

Lastly, a closed network test for Gundam Evolution will take place on April 7th – 12th, exclusively for the PC. Afterward, a similar test will be made available for the consoles at a later date. Registration for the closed network is currently available by heading over to Steam and requesting access to the game.

This is an interesting move, by Bandai Namco. Not only has this game been in development for quite some time, as I had been following the beta that took place in Japan last year, but wasn’t sure if this would even reach our shores. This is also the second Gundam game announced after SD Gundam Battle Alliance. That’s two Gundam games arriving in North America, which as a big fan of Gundam and Gunpla, puts a massive smile on my face. I can’t wait to jump into my Tallgeese III, which hasn’t been announced yet, but I bet you anything it will be in the game and wrecking stuff with my heat rod.

And to ease the wait here’s some Gundam Evolution gameplay from the beta that was available in Japan back in 2021.
