Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed – New 4 vs 1 multiplayer Game Revealed

Ghostbusters Spirits Unleashed

The developer of Friday the 13th: The Game and Predator Hunting Grounds, ILLFonic, has revealed its newest title, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is a four-versus-one asymmetrical multiplayer game that has been announced for the PlayStation, Xbox platforms, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, up to four players will team up to take down a ghost that another player is also controlling. It’s important to note that players will be able to create and customize their Ghostbuster character and ghost – complete with different abilities.

Iconic Ghostbuster characters Winston Zeddemore and Ray Stantz will also be present in-game to assist and guide players. While the equally iconic Firehouse will serve as the Ghostbusters base of operations. According to the IllFonic, Spirits Unleashed will be canon and takes place after Ghostbusters: Afterlife.

It’s interesting to see yet another game adopt the four-versus-one asymmetrical multiplayer format. Especially since most games that have attempted this haven’t faired well, with the exception of Dead by Daylight, which has dominated this particular genre. The latest game that attempted this, Back 4 Blood, started off strong but has yet been a frustration to those who’ve played the title. That includes us. Here’s to hoping that Ghostbusters Spirits is able to carve out a space in this genre.

Yet, the Ghostbuster fan in me is screaming at the top of his lungs. This definitely looks to have the charm that most of the Ghostbuster movies and the cartoons had. How it plays has yet to be seen, but I’m rooting for it.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed is slated to be released in Q4 2022 for Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
