Pokemon Legends Arceus Reportedly Had Huge Success In Japan Over Launch Weekend

By Todd BlackFebruary 3, 2022
Pokemon Legends Arceus, Pokemon Legends Z-A

For almost a week now, gamers have been diving into Pokemon Legends Arceus on the Nintendo Switch and have been having a wide array of feelings on it. Some have been critiques, but the overwhelming response is that of it being one of, if not the, best Pokemon game ever released. Leaving many to wonder what a potential sequel could be like. Just as much though is how much the game will sell.

While it’s still somewhat early to gauge that, we do know some key figures. Such as how in the UK it’s had one of the best Pokemon opening weekends ever, and now, Japan has apparently gotten some early numbers revealed via a Nintendo insider:

Famitsu is reporting that in Japan, Pokemon Legends: Arceus sold 1.4 million units in 3 days.

This is the second biggest Switch launch in Japan behind Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

That is indeed huge news, as that would already put it at the million-seller level, and that doesn’t even factor in the UK sales, the US sales, and very likely the digital sales. All in all, this looks like a big win for Nintendo and the Pokemon Company all around.
