Get ready, folks, as Atlus has released a new trailer for its upcoming Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Originally released for the Arcades, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 nearly nine years ago. Now the game is back, ready to give it another go, but on current-generation hardware.
Being an updated version of the original Persona 4 Arena, the game includes new characters, a larger story mode, new lobbies, and many gameplay tweaks. Also included is all of the previously released DLC. Persona 4 Arena Ultimax is priced at $29.99 and is a digital-only release.
The updated roster includes Yukari Takeba, Junpei Iori, and Ken Amada from Persona 3 and Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4.
Here’s what will be available with Persona 4 Arena Ultimax when it arrives in March 2022:
- Ultimax Version – Includes all previously released Persona 4 Arena Ultimax content, including the original Persona 4 Arena story
- A Deep Roster of Playable Characters – Persona 3 fan-favorites and “Shadow” versions offer a range of fighting styles to choose from
- Dual audio – Choose between Japanese and English VO
So far, the game is shaping up quite nicely, with one exception – the netcode. Atlus has confirmed that the game will not feature rollback netcode at first. I’m sure that’s something that doesn’t sit right with fighting game fans. Though, Atlus has mentioned they are considering adding rollback netcode at a later date. I’m assuming this means if the game ends up selling well, then they’ll do it.
Frankly, I’m surprised that Atlus is willing to release this without the superior netcode, especially since there’s been a significant uproar about rollback netcode being added to several fighting games as late.
Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will be released on Match 17, 2022, for PS4, Switch, and PC (Steam). Sadly, the Xbox isn’t getting a release this time around.
