Fans have been waiting a long time for news on Final Fantasy XVI. Sadly, we’re going to be waiting a lot longer for it according to a recent statement from producer Naoki Yoshida.

Final Fantasy XVI was first announced back at the PS5 reveal event in 2020, and fans have been waiting for more news ever since. The pandemic has obviously taken a toll on the game and caused issues in development, but hopefully later this year we get an update on the development of the game and a possible release date as according to a report from Jason Schreier the game has been in development for much longer than people may think, given the rather tumultuous history of Final Fantasy XV.
