Japanese Anime 88-Spots Voting Now Open

By Josh PiedraNovember 19, 2021

The Anime Tourism Association of Japan (Chairman: Yoshiyuki Tomino, hereinafter the Association) will be holding a “Japanese Anime Spot Web Vote” for inclusion in the 2022 edition of “Japanese Anime 88-Spots” until November 30, 2021 (Tuesday).

The Association has held a “Japanese Anime Spot Web Vote”, and has selected “Japanese Anime 88-Spots” every year based on the suggestions of anime fans all over the world. In 2020, we postponed the voting in view of the situation due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, but in 2021 we are looking forward to the time when everyone will be able to visit anime spots safely after the coronavirus pandemic has settled down. This is the first vote after an absence of 2 years. Votes are being accepted on the special website from June 21 (Monday) to November 30 (Tuesday).

The votes received from anime fans all over the world will provide valuable data when the Association selects anime spots for inclusion in the “Japanese Anime 88-Spots, 2022 Edition”, as well as when planning future anime spot activities and regional promotions through anime tourism.

14 people who participate in the voting will be awarded the following sacred anime spot tour support funds by lottery. We would like to ask the 1st and 2nd prize winners to cooperate in preparing a report to expand the circle of Japanese anime spots.

1st prize (1 winner)

Electronic money worth 30,000 yen and supplementary prize

2nd prize (3 winners)

Electronic money worth 10,000 yen and supplementary prize

3rd prize (10 winners)

50 US dollars worth of Tokyo Otaku Mode gift points, or a 50 US dollar Hotels.com Gift Card

*Winners will be contacted at the email address provided in the questionnaire.

*Winners of 1st and 2nd prizes are required to provide the Association with photos and reports of their visit to the sacred anime spot as a condition for receiving the prize. Photos and reports you provide may be posted on our website and publications.

On Wednesday, December 15, 2021, they will hold a presentation of the “Japanese Anime 88-Spots, 2022 Edition” in Tokyo. A video of the presentation will be distributed at a later date on our YouTube channel. Details of video distribution will be announced on our website.
