Halo Infinite is Getting Another Progression Update

By Kyle SimcoxNovember 30, 2021
Changes coming to Halo Infinite's Battle Pass

If you’ve been playing Halo Infinite, then you might have noticed there’s a massive problem with the game’s progression model. In the beginning, progressing through the game’s first Battle Pass felt like such a slog, 343 Industries quickly tried to mend the situation. After examining the data, however, Community Manager John Junyshek has announced a new update in an attempt to speed things up. A permanent 50 exp per match was added to the multiplayer game, and the duration of boosts was doubled.

John begins off by explaining that the team noticed a slow start, prompting the new changes. Then, it goes on to break down the changes coming to Infinite’s progression systems. The new reward system will be set on a six-game system that offers diminishing returns.

1st Game = 300XP
2nd Game = 200XP
3rd Game = 200XP
4th Game = 100XP
5th Game = 100XP
6th Game = 100XP
7th+ Game = 50XP

We believe this increase will help address those slower initial payouts while also benefiting those of you jumping on each and every day.

For what it’s worth, this update is a pretty generous one. While the progression system is in need of work, this is a guaranteed level for playing six games a day. Combined with experience boosters and your weekly challenges, it’ll be much easier to progress through your battle passes while they work on bigger changes.

Bigger changes are in the works, as confirmed by Junyshek, but this is a much-needed step in the right direction. If you’d like to read my thoughts on the game’s Micro-Transaction issue, click here to read more.

Halo Infinite will be released for the Xbox platform and PC on December 8, 2021.

I just really enjoy video games and talking about them. Also a big fan of everything else nerd culture as well. Well, almost everything.
