Disney’s and Marvel’s ‘X-Men ’97’ is the revival of the classic cartoon

Disney's and Marvel's X-Men '97 revival

Today, Disney and Marvel shocked pretty much every fan of the classic X-Men cartoon series by announcing that plans to revive the series with ‘X-Men ’97’. X-Men ’97 will make its way to Disney+ sometime in 2023. This new series will expand on the original series, with the classic X-Men line-up and perhaps a few more characters from the ’90 series of X-Men comic books.

To say this is a dream come true is an understatement. Fans of the show have been asking for Marvel to bring back the series for years, and while it never happened, we did get other X-Men animated shows. But none of those, at least to me, had the charm that made the original X-Men cartoon special.

This series will also see the return of the original voice actors, including Cal Dodd, Lenore Zann, George Buza, Alison Sealy-Smith, Chris Potter, Catherine Disher, Adrian Hough, and Christopher Britton. While also bringing on some new talent in the form of Jennifer Hale, Anniwaa Buachie, Ray Chase, Matthew Waterson, JP Karliak, Holly Chou, Jeff Bennett, and AJ LoCascio.

Beau DeMayo will serve as the X-Men ’97 head writer, with executive producer with Jake Castorena as supervising director and Charley Feldman as supervising producer
