Now We Know Who That Mysterious AI in Halo Infinite Is

By Keith MitchellOctober 25, 2021
Halo Infinite - That's not Cortana-4

And Weapon was her name-o!

During E3 2021, we got our first look at a brand new AI that would debut in Halo Infinite. Of course, seeing how this AI wasn’t Cortana, who’s currently out there doing some nasty stuff, the internet was going crazy over this AI. Who was it? What was its purpose? Where did she come from? Why does she look like Cortona?

Well, we know its purpose was to help trap Cortona, and then Master Chief would transport her to be deleted. Something that didn’t go according to plan. Now we know her name, thanks to the recent Halo Infinite campaign overview that was released on October 25, 2021. When Master Chief said he was looking for a weapon, in truth he was looking for the AI called “Weapon”. If you ask me, that name is pretty lame, but then again, I’m still stuck on Cortona, and I’m still frustrated that she’s a baddie.  Though, I’m sure that once we get our hands on Halo Infinite and we start playing, that we new “Not Cortona” AI will win our hearts over; I mean, that’s the plan, right 343 Industries?

There’s still a bunch of stuff we don’t know about the Weapon AI, but with the release date of Halo Infinite just a few months away. We’ll find out more once we start playing the game.

Oh, and if you haven’t watched the Halo Infinite campaign video, check it out below.

Halo Infinite releases on December 8, 2021, for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Windows Store, Steam). Halo Infinite will also be playable on Xbox Game Pass on day one, so if you’re a member, you can play alongside everyone else without dropping $60 bucks.
