Capcom says NO to Monster Hunter Rise Cross-save and Cross-play

With Capcom bringing Monster Hunter Rise over to the PC, we had hoped that Capcom would incorporate cross-save and cross-play for those who had already started playing on the Nintendo Switch. There’s nothing worse than spending hundreds of hours on a game and then playing on jumping to the same game but on a different platform and losing all of our progress. With all eyes turned to Capcom, they have saddened made the call that cross-save and cross-play between the Switch and PC versions of Monster Hunter Rise aren’t happening.

Why? Capcom has stated that despite looking into the possibility, they found that they “are unable to implement it this time.”

We’ve heard your requests for Cross-Save / Cross-Play for #MHRise & #Sunbreak, but unfortunately, after looking into it throughout the development process, we found we are unable to implement it this time. As always, we appreciate your continued feedback and support.

It’s more like we haven’t been able to implement it in Monster Hunter, nor Monster Hunter Iceborne, so why should Monster Hunter Rise be any different. For fans of the serious who jumped at the chance to play Monster Hunter Rise on the Switch and then finding out it was also heading to the PC, well, it sucks. I know a few people who’ve spend hours on MHR and were looking to make the Switch (no pun intended) to the PC version. And while I’m sure this snafu isn’t going to deter them, I’m sure I’ll hear them complaining about it after telling them it isn’t happening.

For the life of me, I don’t understand why Capcom continues to deny the Monster Hunter community what they’ve been asking for. For as many games have supported cross-play and cross-save, you’d think this would be a shoo-in. More than anything, this would help grow and strengthen the community; this is needed. And yet, here we are again.

As to why this isn’t happening, I couldn’t tell you. I’m not a developer. I assume there’s a technical reason why it isn’t happening; that’s all I’m saying. Still, I’m sure PC players will have ways to catch up to their Switch play, and I’ll leave it at that.

As for me, when I heard that MHR was headed to the PC via the leaks, I stopped playing. Now I can’t wait to get my hands on the game for PC and do a proper run.

But what about you? Does this news upset you, or were you expecting this? Let us know in the comments.

Monster Hunter Rise heads to PC on January 1th2, 2022, and will include 4k and ultrawide support. Don’t forget the uncapped framerates and high-resolution textures. Even without the cross-save and cross-play, the game is going to be glorious.
