‘Stranger Things 4’ Gets Teaser, Confirmed 2022 Release

By Sara Roncero-MenendezAugust 6, 2021

The pandemic has sucked for many reasons, but one of the biggest is how it has affected productions on some of our favorite shows. One of the big ones was Stranger Things 4, the highly anticipated follow-up to Netflix’s megahit show finally has a new, albeit very short, teaser and confirmation we’ll be getting more strange goodness…next year.

The teasers shows a few clips at rapid-fire speed: a clock chiming midnight, Eleven being held back by agents of some kind; Nancy, Dustin, Lucas, Max, Steve and Robin in an old, dusty house; someone who looks like Hopper with a flame-thrower/shotgun; cheerleaders from Hawkins High School presumably; someone waking from a burning car; Steven looking for something underwater; Dungeons and Dragons game set up; a buzzcut child walking by a door (likely one of the other psychic experiments); and finally, four people on bikes, three of whom we can tell are Max, Dustin and Lucas, with the fourth being potentially Erika, Lucas’s sister.

Even this tiny bit is enough to start the theory gears turning. Does Hopper make it back to Hawkins? How much time has passed? The kids must be going to high school at this point, but as freshman or upperclassmen? Will we get to learn more about the dark experiments that created El?

Weirdly enough, we see neither Will nor Mike in any of the teaser trailer images (unless they’re the person in front of the burning car), even though they are confirmed to return. Jonathan and Joyce are also missing but they will be part of the cast. One cool thing though is I think we get to see Amybeth McNulty, who starred in Anne with an E, as one of the cheerleaders!

Still, wish we didn’t have to wait a minimum of four months to get to the new episodes, but what can you do?

Stranger Things 4 will premiere on Netflix sometime in 2022.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
