Marvel’s Midnight Suns finally announced from XCOM developers

By Ryan EasbyAugust 25, 2021
Marvel's Midnight Suns

IT’S FINALLY HERE! The long-rumoured Marvel strategy RPG from XCOM developers Firaxis has been announced during Gamescom 2021, Midnight Suns, and it looks absolutely great.

Firaxis has already confirmed that Iron Man, Captain America, Captain Marvel, Blade, Nico Minoru, Doctor Strange, Magik, Robbie Reyes and Wolverine will all be playable, representing multiple different teams from across the Marvel universe such as the Runaways, Avengers and the X-Men.

During an interview with Polygon, the leader of the development team Jake Solomon revealed that it was Marvel that approached the Firaxis team with the idea after they released XCOM 2. He also revealed that the main antagonist of the game would be Lilith, Mother of Demons, who’s attempting to take over the world. The main focus of the game will be a brand-new character to the Marvel universe known as Hunter who’s only recently been resurrected from the dead by the magical element of Marvel.

Personally, I can’t tell you how excited I am for this game. I love strategy games and I absolutely adore Marvel, so mixing the two together is just the best thing I’ve ever had the privilege to bear witness to. As we move closer to release, expect us to report more on Midnight Suns and discuss the gameplay reveal next week!

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will launch March 2022 on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One and Xbox Series X. The first gameplay will be revealed in a week, September 1st, so get ready to see some cool looking Marvel heroes.
