Here are the cliff notes from the Dead Space Remake developer live stream

Earlier today, EA’s Motive Studios hosted a developer’s preview of the Dead Space remake with a little help from Spawn on Me’s Kahlief Adams and Jackie M. Bulter. While the game is still early in production, the team was brave enough to give us a glimpse of the game, despite its early form. Kudos to them for that, as I know, other developers would not have done the same.

That said, here’s the cliff notes version of the live stream.

Of course, you can watch the live stream in its entirety if you missed it or if you want to see it again. If you’re a Dead Space fan, I highly recommend giving the live stream a watch or two.

  • Gunner Wright will return to voice Isaac Clarke. Yes, the original voice actor returns! While Isaac was a silent protagonist in the first Dead Space title, he did speak in Dead Space 2 and 3.
  • Traversing the entire USS Ishimura won’t have a single loading screen. A seamless experience and one that I’m looking forward to that. But does that mean the train/rail segments will be gone or shortened?
  • An expanded Necromorph dismemberment system. In all three Dead Space games, you were able to chop off the limbs of the Necromorphs and the heads. But now, this system will be even better. The original system was already good, so I can’t wait to see how this is improved on.
  • When the Dead Space remake was announced, it was stated that there would be new environments added to the game. These would be locations that didn’t make it into the original games or brand-new locations.
  • The game will be expanded to give us more information and lore on the Dead Space universe and the characters. This means more info on those poor souls who were being experimented on, perhaps. This is great news.
  • The Zero Gravity segments will be improved on as well. Thank goodness, as Zero-G in the first game was terrible. Definitely much better in the second game.
  • The original story won’t be altered in any shape.
  • The Dead Space remake is in development for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as they want to push the limits of the game. Making the game a cross-generation game would limit the Motive Studios team on what they could do. I know this might cause some frustration with the gamers would either didn’t upgrade or couldn’t because they can’t find a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
Along with the interesting tidbits, we also got to see some examples of how the new game looks compared to the original and some clips of Dead Space remake footage, which we’ve listed below.

That’s it for now. We hope you enjoyed the recap a much as we enjoyed watching the live stream. We can’t wait to see how the full game turns out, and The Outerhaven will closely follow the Dead Space remake’s development.
