Next God Of War Title Slips To 2022

Earlier today, PlayStation’s Santa Monica Studios shocked the gaming community by announcing that the next God of War wasn’t going to be released in 2021. I’m actually kidding, as many already speculated that we wouldn’t see the game until 2021.

Mind you, we originally stated this would be God of War Ragnarok, but seeing how Santa Monica Studio has said the “Next God of War” game and not specifically Ragnarok, we’ve updated this piece. You never know, they would be working on something else.

At least now, we have a confirmation of the game not being released until 2022.

Since the release of the next God of War teaser last year, we’ve been humbled by the amount of love our community has shown us
We’re incredibly grateful to see so many people excited to experience the next chapter of Kratos and Artreus’ journey.
“We remain focused on delivering a top-quality game while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our team, creative partners and families. With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to shift our release window to 2022.
Thank you all for your continued support, we’ve got some exciting things in the works that we can’t wait to show you!

So there you have it. No more worrying if this God of War title would be released this year and for you to continue accumulating a backlog. I’m not sad or frustrated either, as I rather any developer take as much time as they need to get it right the first time. The reboot of God of War was amazing and the last thing anyone wants is a half-polished game. We’ve seen too many of those just over the past 6-7 months, we don’t want to see more.

Take all the time you need, Santa Monica Studios. We’ll be right here waiting for you.
