By Keith MitchellApril 14, 2021
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis

If you were one of the many, who didn’t get access to the closed beta of Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis that took place in Japan, not to worry. You’ll have another chance as Sega has officially announced they’ll be hosting another closed beta in May 2021. This closed beta will take place from May 14th to May 16th, 2021. This beta will be solely for the PC.

Registration for the closed beta will open up on April 21s at 10 AM PDT / 1 PM EDT, and you’ll need to sign up via the Xbox Insider Hub app. If you don’t have it installed, do so now and save yourself some time.

Signups are first-come, first-serve, so if you’re looking to get some hands-on, you’ll want to register as soon as possible when April 21st rolls around. Everyone who participates will receive an in-game reward which will be revealed at a later date.

On April 21st, Sega will host another PSO2 New Genesis Prologue and will release new information on the upcoming expansion. If you’re curious or hungry for new info, you won’t want to miss this.

While I didn’t get a chance to play in the first beta, the footage I’ve seen of the game was amazing. Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is an upgrade of PSO2 in every way, but more importantly, the way the game is structured is a departure from the original game. Being a truly open-world game, quests and missions, among other things will be handled differently. The targeting system has also seen a major change and is easy to pick out targets from a crowd. For those who already play PSO2, you’ll be able to transfer your characters over to New Genesis, including your items and currency.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will be released in 2021 for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows 10. An exact release date has not been announced as of yet.
