Pre-Load Times And File Size For Resident Evil Village On PS5 Revealed

While the gaming world awaits Resident Evil Village’s eventual release, a few tidbits regarding the game were released via Twitter. While not from Capcom, this tweet details the dates when gamers will be able to pre-load Resident Evil Village. It also provides just how much space the game will take upon the PlayStation 5’s hard drive, which isn’t that large, to begin with. Again, as this is not directly from Capcom, take this may not be 100% correct. That said, this particular account has been spot on when it comes to leaks in the past.

According to this tweet, the PS5 version will take up 27.35 GB of space – not including the day one patch could be massive.  Pre-loading will start on May 5th, 2021, just two days before the official release. Remember that this likely doesn’t include RE: Verse, the Resident Evil deathmatch game mode that will release alongside Resident Evil Village. Expect the space required to increase, if the Xbox One version is any indication. Revealed previously, the Xbox One version will sit at 50GB when both Resident Evil Village and RE: Verse is installed. We still don’t know if this also includes a patch day patch.

Lastly, if you don’t want to waste your precious PS5 hard drive space, you could still pick up the PS4 version. I’d imagine the file sizes would be similar, and you’d e able to install the game onto an external hard drive and play it off that. Then when you’re ready to move up, you can upgrade to the PS5 version for free—just a thought.

Resident Evil Village is the next chapter in the Resident Evil series, and it looks to be the conclusion to everything that started in Resident Evil 7. According to the games’ director, everything will be revealed. Not to mention this game will feature Werewolves, a VERY TALL LADY, and interesting gameplay. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t looking forward to playing Resident Evil 7.

Resident Evil Village on May 7th, 2021, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). Are you looking forward to playing the game? Sound off in the comments!
