War Machine will make an appearance in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’

By Keith MitchellFebruary 5, 2021
Don Cheadle - War Machine - Marvel

While Marvel’s War Machine, played by Don Cheadle, may make his Disney Plus TV debut sooner than expected. While it was announced that he’d be front and center in the upcoming ‘Armor Wars’ show. He’ll also be featured in ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,’ which is set to debut this March 19, 2021.

According to a report from Brobible, Don Cheadle let it spill that War Machine will be involved in the show.

It’s really a fun and interesting and, by all imagination, completely open-ended – this can go anywhere. It’s great, I can’t wait to get in the room with the writers and figure out how all those things [connecting Armor Wars to the MCU] happen. You know, Rhodey shows up in Winter Soldier and Falcon’s show.

Just how much he will be involved hasn’t been started, and for a good reason. And while we don’t know in what sort of capacity War Machine will play, it’s always fun to speculate. So let’s do that.

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, we know the fates of Tony, Steve, and Natasha. While they’re not all of the original Avengers, it’s a hefty part of the team that’s missing. That could leave Rhodey/War Machine with several possibilities. He could end up working for the government (again), and this could put him at odds with Sam/Falcon as he’ll be taking up Captain America’s mantle. A Captain America that, in the government’s eyes, could still be a fugitive. And just like in Captain America: Civil, that would put War Machine against Cap and Bucky (again). This sounds similar to the scrapped War Machine movie.

Or, we could see War Machine working alongside Captain and Bucky, trying to make amends for all the crappy stuff they went through before Avengers: Endgame went down. While it seemed like everyone was kumbaya and keen on getting the band back together, there was still some bad blood between them all. Rhodey could feel guilty about all of that and would try to stand in for the late Iron Man. Or he could be a cameo appearance, here and there. It’s not uncommon for this to happen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We could speculate on this all day, but again, there’s a good reason why no one is saying anything. As for myself, I’m more than happy to wait for The Falcon and The Winter Solider to air in March 2021, which isn’t as long as you think, as we still have five more WandaVision episodes. Come to think of it; the last WandaVision episode would end on March 5, 2021 – just in time for The Falcon and The Winter Solider to kick off.

I see what you did there, Marvel and Disney.
