Netflix and Legendary Television Working On A Tomb Raider Anime

By Keith MitchellJanuary 27, 2021
Tomb Raider - Lara Croft

Netflix isn’t done with adding more animated series to its service. It’s been revealed that the company is working with Legendary Television to create a new Tomb Raider animated series.

The most iconic heroine in video games is jumping to animation! Tomb Raider is a new anime series from @Legendary following Lara Croft after the events of the video-game reboot trilogy.

— Netflix Geeked (@NetflixGeeked) January 27, 2021

This new series will follow the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy from Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics. That series consisted of three titles; Tomb Raider (2013), Rise of the Tomb Raider, and the final chapter, Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

What is planned for Lara Croft has yet to be announced, but, interestingly, this will be the first official Tomb Raider animated series. Considering that other popular gaming series such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, to name a few, have already stared in an animated feature or multiple ones. The fact that it has taken 25 years for Lara to get her own animated series is mind-boggling. Crossing my fingers that this ends up being good.

Tasha Huo (The Witcher: Blood Origin, Red Sonja) will write and executive produce; dj2 Entertainment Founder and CEO Dmitri M. Johnson (Sonic the Hedgehog), Stephan Bugaj, and Howard Bliss; Jacob Robinson, under his company Tractor Pants.
