Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Has Officially Become The Best-Selling Musou Game Ever

When Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity was announced on the Nintendo Switch, gamers all around weren’t sure what to make of it. But as more and more trailers were revealed and the various elements of the gameplay and story were shown, fans started to warm up to it. And by the time it released it was a major hit with both critics and fans.

Now, Koei Tecmo has released some interesting information. Not only has Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity sold over 3.5 million units worldwide, it’s now the best-selling Musou (aka Warriors) title ever. Which is saying something as this franchise has been going on for quite some time.

Before you say that this is “because it was a Nintendo-themed Musou game” and that’s why it sold so well, you need to remember that the original Hyrule Warriors title only did a little over 1 million in sales in its lifetime (not including it’s “improved versions” which we don’t have sales numbers of).

Age of Calamity sold 3 million units VERY quickly and even though interest seems to have died down a bit, it’s clear the game was very much a success. If you want our own views on the game, be sure to read our review!
