December PS Plus Games Include ‘Worms Rumble’

By Andrew AgressNovember 30, 2020
PlayStation Plus

For December, PlayStation Plus members will be able to download Worms Rumble, Just Cause 4, and Rocket Arena. Once again, we have not two but three games on offer here. Perhaps the extra game is a holiday bonus, or perhaps it serves to sweeten the pot for new PlayStation 5 owners. Either way, three games are better than two, and all three are available for either PS4 or PS5 depending on which console you own. If you have yet to download this past month’s games, today is the last day for you to do so. However, Bugsnax  will be available as a free PS5 PlayStation Plus download until January 4th.

But let’s check out December’s games, shall we? While the games have wildly different settings, all three offer fast-paced chaotic action.

Ah, Worms, a class franchise. But now, we see the franchise tunneling into the battle area genre. Worms Rumble sees up to 32 players wriggling it out in real-time combat. The game is cross-platform at that, allowing more people to join in the legless fun. The Team17 game will release tomorrow, at which point players can immediately download it through PS Plus.

Next up we have Just Cause 4, the latest entry in the Avalanche Studios franchise. The story focuses on Rico Rodriguez, who skydives into the rainforests and mountains of the remote country Solis in order to fight a private military organization. But let’s be honest, you don’t come to Just Cause for the story, you come because you can create absolute chaos in the sandbox open world. And if that’s what you come to do, Just Cause 4 offers that. In our review, we noted that the physics engine of the franchise is still fun but that there is “nothing new about Just Cause 4 that makes it stand out from other entries.”

In Rocket Arena we have more online fun involving explosive weaponry, this time with the tighter matchups of three vs. three. The third-person shooter by Final Strike Games will see players entering colorful maps, firing rockets and dodging those of the opposing team to snag victory. The game features several modes of play, including the the standard Knockout versus mode and the artifact hunting Treasure Hunt.

If causing chaos is your thing, December has a lineup of games for you. If you subscribe to PlayStation Plus, whether on PS4 or PS5, you can download Worms Rumble, Just Cause 4, and Rocket Arena from tomorrow until January 4th, according to the PlayStation Blog. Additionally, PlayStation will offer another free multiplayer weekend for those who don’t have the subscription services slated for December 19th and 20th.
