MK11 unleashes Rambo in new trailer

By Karl SmartOctober 22, 2020

To say that the recent Mortal Kombat series has had a lot of guest characters is an understatement. Starting with Mortal Kombat (the 2011 reboot, not the 1994 original) we saw Kratos and Freddy Kruger join the roster, then with Mortal Kombat X, we saw the likes of Jason Voorhees, Predator, Alien, and Leatherface join the fight, and now with Mortal Kombat 11 (and the DLC expansion Mortal Kombar 11: Aftermath), we have seen the likes of The Joker, Spawn, The Terminator, and RoboCop join the fray… Now we have the next addition to the roster with John Rambo leaving the jungle and jumping into the fight for Earthrealm.

NetherRealm Studios recently released a video showing off Rambo in all his glory, you can watch that below.

There are some interesting things coming from this trailer, the main one being that Rambo is the second Mortal Kombat character to fight with a weapon in hand from the beginning of the fight to the end of it (The first being Freddy Kruger). Rambo’s iconic hunting knife is always a part of Rambo’s moves from the get-go, unlike other characters who make their weapons appear out of thin air… Though Rambo does this a lot too.

Rambo comes off as an interesting mix of techniques, using traps, guns, explosives, and his knife in both offensive and defensive play. Then there are the Fatal Blow and Fatality that are shown, which I won’t spoil here. It’s good to say that Rambo is a perfect fit for the Mortal Kombat universe, and a big bonus is that Sylvester Stallone was willing and able to give his voice to the character once again in order to keep the authenticity of the character.

Rambo comes as a part of the upcoming Kombat Pack 2, which also features Mileena & Rain, which will be released on November 17th, 2020, alongside Mortal Kombat Ultimate (A bundle of Mortal Kombat 11, Aftermath, Kombat Pack 1, and Kombat Pack 2) on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One X, Xbox Series X, and PC. (Nintendo Switch version has yet to be confirmed)
