Dave Kosak Leaves Blizzard Entertainment

By Josh PiedraOctober 27, 2020

Dave Kosak took to Twitter today to announce that after 12 years, he has decided to leave Blizzard Entertainment.

Kosak contributed to both World of Warcraft and Hearthstone over his tenure with the company. In World of Warcraft, Kosak was the Lead Narrative Designer before joining Team 5 in 2016 to help launch the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan expansion. Kosak was also responsible for the Patches the Pirate character and legendary card that drove so many people insane on Turn 1!

Dave was also responsible for creating the Dungeon Run game mode in Kobolds in Catacombs which saw many iterations over the years including being the inspiration for the brand-new Duels mode coming with the Madness at the Darkmoon Faire expansion.

Kosak already announced that he is moving to an independent studio called DeviationGames to begin work on a secret project. While details about this project haven’t been revealed, he stated that it is something that will make you go “Whoa” when announced.

You can view his original farewell tweet below:

Big announcement time!
After 12 remarkable years and countless adventures, I am moving on from Blizzard Entertainment. The other week I bid a fond farewell to the orc, who is dutifully wearing his mask. I will very much miss all of my Blizzard colleagues. pic.twitter.com/FJmDxFKhqN
