The pandemic has put a lot of projects on hold, but thankfully, everyone’s favorite rage-filled red panda is coming back. Though, judging by the trailer, Retsuko is not in a good place, financially or emotionally:
Retsuko is having a hard time, it seems. She’s listless and not sure what she wants to do with her life. She ends up hitting someone’s car and get dragged into working for a pop idol group to make up for the damages. Meanwhile, Haida and Fenneko are feeling fed up that Retsuko doesn’t trust them enough or feels close enough to them to let them know what’s going on in her life. And then there’s the mysterious dog character hanging around Haida and the very pastel unicorn character who makes several appearances. But most exciting of all — Haida seems to catch Retsuko is the epic act of raging out.
Nothing has been said about this being the final season, so we’ll just have to see if Retsuko’s journey continues forward, but the theme of “getting your life together” seems big in this one. In the wake of massive unemployment, prolonged instances of isolation, and an uncertain future, it’s hard not to sympathize with her struggles.
