Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition gets a release date and a brand new trailer [Updated with specs]

Guerilla Games took to Twitter to announce that Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition would be heading to the PC on August 7th, 2020. The game will be released on both the Epic Games Store and Steam, priced at $49.99. This way you’ll be able to play it on your favorite digital storefront.

Along with the release date news comes a new trailer, which gives an in-depth look at what the PC version will include. From the trailer, we can see that this is no simple port, as Guerilla Games has a variety of options that will make even the mode jaded PC gamer happy.

These features include ultrawide screen support, an unlocked framerate, tons of graphical customizations, dynamic foliage, and improved reflections. They’ve even included a benchmarking tool, which is something I wish more developers would include.

That’s on top of the higher resolution support, assuming you have the hardware to push those pixels. Those with RTX 2080 Ti/Super cards or 5700 XT cards should be able to crank it up to 1440p or 4K with little issue.

Update: Specs for minimum and recommended added, and they look tame. I don’t see this game requiring much to push it to 1440p or 4K, but that remains to be seen.

Minimum specs:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bits
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-2500K@3.3GHz or AMD FX 6300@3.5GHz
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 (3 GB) or AMD Radeon R9 290 (4GB)
  • DirectX: Version 12
    • Storage: 100 GB available space

 Recommended:

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64-bits
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-4770K@3.5GHz or Ryzen 5 1500X@3.5GHz
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 100 GB available space

Sure, this game was released for the PlayStation a few years back, but now that it’s coming to the PC, this means those who refuse to touch a gaming console will finally be able to play this masterpiece. I’m looking forward to it as well, even though I already own the game for the PS4. Just being able to push this game to 4K, with everything on max or ultra settings, well it just makes the graphics fiend in me ever so happy.

Now if we could only convince Sony to provide us with a copy for some early access fun.
