Aaron Greenberg confirms 60FPS for Xbox Series X as standard

By Keith MitchellMay 7, 2020

While we’re all waiting for the Xbox Series X live stream to start at 8 AM PT/11 AM PT, it would seem we’re getting some news ahead of time.

Thanks to Xbox Games Marketing Manager Aaron Greenberg, we’re excited to know that all Xbox Series X games will be supported 60 FPS from the start and that 120FPS is optional but that’s up to the developers.

60fps will be the standard output, but the architecture allows us to support up to 120fps.

Needless to say, this is fantastic news, as many of us had voiced our opinions about resolution versus framerate in the past. Sure, the higher the resolution, the better the game looks, but usually at the sacrifice of framerate. With the Xbox Series X (and PS5), this looks to be a non-issue, or at least we hope so.

As for the Xbox 20/20 Livestream, we’ll find out what 3rd party games will support the Xbox Series X. From what we’re being told, there’s going to be a lot of them announced today.
