Nioh 2 story trailer released, three post-launch DLC packs announced

By Keith MitchellJanuary 23, 2020

Earlier today, Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja released the story trailer for the action-RPG, Nioh 2.

In this trailer, we’ve given a bit of insight as to what’s going on plot-wise in this follow-up to one of my favorite games this decade. While the first game focused on the events of Feudal Japan and Irish-born English Sailor, William, Nioh 2 follows a different path and takes place in the Warring States period of Japan. Which happens to take place before the events of the first game.

Of course, KT and Team Ninja have stated that Nioh 2 will be more brutal, will have more action and will surpass the first game. Not only that, they heard the pleas and complaints and now have included the ability to customize your characters. Expect new weapons, tougher bosses and more. You’ll even be able to turn into a Yokai, however, the information surrounding that has yet to be expanded on.

But that’s not all, as the developer has already outlined their post-release plans for Nioh 2. Three DLC packs will follow the release of the game, with each following a different storyline that pre-date the events that take place in Nioh 2. These DLC packs will be part of the Nioh 2 Season Pass, which is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition and Special Edition (physical).

The Special Edition also includes a very sexy Steelbook case and artbook, which can be seen below.

Nioh 2 releases exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on May 24, 2020. While you wait, why not check out our review of Nioh, here.
