The Final ‘Rise of Skywalker’ Trailer Highlights the Big Finale

By Sara Roncero-MenendezOctober 22, 2019

We all know this day was coming, and it’s coming on a lot faster than most of us planned. In two months, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters and the Skywalker saga, for better or worse, will be over. At the very least, it looks epic as hell in the latest trailer:

There’s a lot to digest in this trailer, but the biggest is that we see Rey training and traveling with Poe and Finn, perhaps as a nod to the trio from the original trilogy. There’s also a showdown with Kylo and Rey, but also the two of them destroying what could be the destroyed Vader suit together. We also see Leia, Rose Tico, C3P0, R2D2, Chewie, and Lando Calrissian are present, with C3P0 delivering a truly touching line.

It is interesting that there is both a Luke and Darth Sidious, so one has to wonder if we’re going to get physical/force-ghost appearances from both of them. The whole trailer has a feeling of finality to it, like this will be the last time we will get to see these characters. Of course, this is not the case, as Disney will likely be franchising this storyline until the heat death of the universe. Still, director and writer J.J. Abrams seems to be pulling out all the stops to give fans the conclusion they are waiting for.

And yes, tickets are now available for purchase, so if you need to be the first to see it, get them now.

Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker is set to premiere in theaters on December 20, 2019.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
