Mixer aligns its monthly subscription pricing to Twitch’s

Mixer subs are now $4.99 instead of $5.99

Earlier today, Mixer, Microsoft’s streaming service announced it was dropping its subscription price from $5.99 to $4.99. I’m not sure why this price dropped occurred, especially since it’s only a $1.00 cheaper now.

It’s also hard to not take notice that this price drop now brings Mixer’s subscriptions inline with Twitch’s monthly subscriptions. Unlike Twitch which has multiple subscription tiers, Mixer only has one-tier. For now anyway.

Subscriptions on Mixer (and Twitch) are a way to support your favorite streamers directly since they receive a cut of that subscription. This also provides you the ability to watch a stream on Mixer without any ads. And while there aren’t many ads on Mixer as compared to Twitch, I can see that changing in the future. Then there’s the double XP and 5x the sparks that you can earn for which every streamer you subscribe to.

All of which is great news if you always wanted to support the various streamers on the platform, but often compared pricing to Twitch’s model.

Now we just need for Mixer to add a free monthly subscription to those who are Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. Which would be similar to what Amazon does for Amazon/Twitch Prime members. Something of which I suspect is coming down the pipeline.
