Contra Anniversary Collection Full Lineup Announced

By Keith MitchellMay 28, 2019
Contra Anniversary Collection PS4 Xbox One PC Switch

A while back, Konami has mentioned they were set on releasing a Contra Anniversary Collection later this Summer. This release would be available for the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (Steam). However, what they didn’t mention was which titles would be included.

Thankfully, IGN was able to pry the information from Konami. The following titles will be included in the Contra Anniversary Collection

  • Contra (arcade)
  • Contra (NES)
  • Contra (Famicom)
  • Super Contra (arcade)
  • Super C (NES)
  • Operation C (Game Boy)
  • Contra 3: The Alien Wars (Super NES)
  • Contra: Hard Corps (Sega Genesis)
  • Probotector (Sega Mega Drive)
  • Super Probotector: Alien Rebels (Super NES)

While most of us have played most of these games on the list, the Protector games are likely new to many. Oddly enough, those games are censored versions of Contra that had the main characters replaced with robots and were exclusive to European locations. As you can likely guess, Probotector on the Sega Genesis is Contra: Hardcorps, while Super Probotector is Contra III: Alien Wars. Don’t ask why these were changed up, it was a strange and different time then.

Just like the Castlevania Collection, this is a must have for those who either grew up on these games. Or for those who just want access to all of the games on one platform. Contra Anniversary Collection will be released later this Summer 2019 and will be priced at $20.

I wonder what collection we’ll see next, that is if Konami is eager to keep cranking them out. An all arcade collection with games from their arcade past would be nice. I’d love to see a collection with Aliens, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, X-Men the Arcade Game, The Simpsons Arcade Game, and Run and Gun.
