So, Super Smash Bros Ultimate is already a pretty packed title. The game launched with 74 characters, and then got a 75th one in the form of Piranha Plant which launched last week on the system. And we know that there will be 5 DLC characters in the game, the first of which will be Joker from Persona 5. The other 4? Well, they’re a mystery…for now anyway. But a datamine seems to indicate that a character from Dragon Quest will be one of the spots, and now, one of the supervisors for Ultimate has added to that notion.
On Instagram, supervisor Kumazaki Shinya made a post of a shield, one that Dragon Quest fans will recognize as Edrick’s from Dragon Quest III. It’s called the Brave Shield, which is was a codeword used in the datamine mentioned above.
Plus, the shield has Kirby next to it, which could signify that this is indeed for Super Smash Bros Ultimate, as Kirby has no direct connection to Dragon Quest in any way.
Many are expecting a character announcement trailer soon, possibly in the first Nintendo Direct of the year. But we’ll have to wait and see if that happens.
