It was announced in the February 22 issue of Kanpou that the toy company Banpresto has dissolved and was completely folded into Bandai-Namco’s Bandai Spirits sub-brand. Bandai Spirits now has control over all rights and duties of Banpresto.
Bandai Spirits is a newly-established subdivision of Bandai-Namco as part of their strategy to broaden their toy department. Bandai Spirits was created on February 15, 2018. Banpresto served as an avenue for convenience store goods and business.
No further information about the absorption has been said or what Bandai looks to do with the Banpresto brand. Banpresto had a history of producing good-quality anime action figures for reasonable prices. It’ll be interesting to see if Bandai will continue on with that same business strategy.
