Second Dinner Receives Funding to Work on Marvel Title

By Josh PiedraJanuary 4, 2019
Second Dinner

The core public figures of Blizzard’s Hearthstone team exited the company last year to form a new independent game studio called Second Dinner. Yesterday, Ben Brode, Yong Woo, Hamilton Chu, Jamaro Kindred, and Michael Schweitzer announced that Second Dinner has been funded for $30 million and through a partnership with Marvel and NetEase, they will be working on their first official game title. The partnership with NetEase indicates that their first title will be a mobile game, although, very little details have been said about it. NetEase has also partnered with Blizzard for their polarizing title Diablo: Immortal.

Marvel themselves confirmed the partnership in a Tweet yesterday as well:

We are thrilled to be partnering with @seconddinner! Please join us in welcoming them to the Marvel Games family! https://t.co/NxXONv31P7

In addition, the team at Second Dinner made this announcement in a YouTube video which you can view below:

With their newfound capital, Second Dinner is looking for a full-time Client Engineer and a full-time Technical Artist to work in-house at their studio in Irvine, CA. You can find their job listings here: http://www.seconddinner.com/index.html#careers
