‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ Teaser Will Get You in the Halloween Spirit

By Sara Roncero-MenendezSeptember 13, 2018

Shut up, I know it’s still technically summer in the Northern Hemisphere, but it’s never too early to celebrate the spirit of Halloween. Case in point, the first teaser for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has just arrived, and it’s got fans in the mood for the witching hour.

Based on the comic series of the same name, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina follows Sabrina Spellman, a young woman who is about to be inducted into her coven on her birthday. She tries to manage her life as a half-witch and a half-human, going to school and having a human boyfriend named Harvey Kinkle. But evil…well, I guess in this case, a worse evil…looms on the horizon and threatens to destroy everything (and maybe everyone) Sabrina loves. The cast includes Kiernan Shipka, Jaz Sinclair, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Lucy Davis, Miranda Otto, Richard Coyle, Ross Lynch, and Tati Gabrielle.

In the trailer, we see a lot of dark stuff, like bloody forests, horned beasts, shadowy meet ups and people running for their lives. We’re going to be getting the Academy of the Unseen Arts, the Weird Sisters, and Madam Satan, all of whom make an appearance in the teaser. You can definitely see the dark color palette they chose really adding to the creep factor for the imagery, and the trailer is cut in that quick-fire way that most American Horror Story openings are.

Currently, there are no plans to crossover with the other show airing in the Archie TV universe, Riverdale, but it looks like that show’s third season is going to have some ties to the occult, so perhaps some key cameos are not out of the question. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the creator of the show and comic, developed Riverdale and is the Chief Creative Officer for Archie Comics, so he could definitely make it happen.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will premiere on Netflix on October 26, 2018.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
