‘BoJack Horseman’ Season 5 Trailer Promises More Deep Introspection and Zany Antics

By Sara Roncero-MenendezSeptember 4, 2018

BoJack Horseman is, by all accounts, a weird show. In a world where humans and anthropomorphic animals live together, a former star from the 1980s, the titular BoJack, must deal with being past his prime, trying to find happiness, and dealing with the trauma of his past…all while trying to work a job, deal with his alcoholism, and interact with a cast of strange but endearing characters. Thankfully, BoJack Horseman Season 5 appears to promise more of the same.

BoJack, after parting ways with his half-sister Hollyhock, is now starring in a new crime drama called Philbert. We see Diane having some internal conflicts, Princess Carolyn dating someone new, Mr. Peanutbutter still being his cheerful self (despite maybe going through a divorce), and Todd…well, being Todd for the most part.

All the major players will be back this season, as well as Hollyhock and Flip McVicker coming back from season 4 to play bigger roles. Flip seems to be somehow connected to the Philbert project, potentially as its creator given his role in making the What Time Is It Right Now.com show,

What’s interesting that the trailer shows Diane and BoJack having the same conversation over and over again, while BoJack continues to get drunk and mess with the lives of his friends. It’s clear that BoJack still doesn’t have his life together, despite his new success and his constant attempts to turn over a new leaf. We’ll have to see how this all plays out, though we won’t be in suspense too much longer.

BoJack Horseman Season 5 premieres on Netflix on September 14, 2018.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
